As a Pearland family photographer, there is nothing sweeter than documenting a young family’s very first portraits in a brand new season of life. The Mendez family had just moved to Pearland, Texas, and wanted to fill the walls of their new home with something meaningful, their very first family photos together as a family of three.
And what better way to celebrate than with their baby girl’s six-month milestone.
A COzy morning at Dixie farm park
We met at Dixie Farm Road Park, one of my favorite local recommendations for families with small children. The park is spread out and peaceful, lined with tall pine trees that filter the light beautifully. There’s a long walking trail and the sweetest little play area, perfect for families who want their family session to feel playful.
From the very beginning, the vibe was exactly what they hoped for: comfy, cozy, and unhurried.
As a family photographer in Pearland, I always encourage parents to choose locations where their little ones feel free to explore and be expressive. The photo session feels more like a play date in the park. We still capture the classics, but also capture the fun and love you share.
Celebrating 6 months with baby girl
This session wasn’t just about starting a tradition of family portraits; it was about celebrating their baby girl turning six months old. That sweet in-between stage where personalities start to shine, curiosity takes over, and every expression is brand new.
Mom wore a soft cream dress paired with cowboy boots, cute and warm. Their baby girl matched her in a cream dress with the most adorable headband. Dad wore an off-white button-down with blue jeans and cowboy boots, tying everything together with relaxed, coordinated denim and neutrals. The overall look felt classic and country chic, perfect for framing in their new home.
We started slowly, walking along the pine-lined paths and letting their daughter take everything in. Her wide eyes were constantly scanning the trees, the sky, the movement around her. She made the cutest little expressions: curious, surprised, happy, and I made sure to capture every single one.
Including the whole family (paws & all)
One of my favorite parts of this session? They brought their two dogs along, a tiny chihuahua and a rescue terrier. As a Pearland family photographer, I love it when families include their pets. They’re part of the story. Part of the home. Part of the baby’s world. The dogs added such a playful energy to the session. We captured a few sweet portraits of everyone together, and then let the pups relax while we focused on mom, dad, and baby. It created the perfect balance of structured portraits and candid connection.
